The new version 1.35 of BagFinder was deployed a few days ago. This is a minor but important version with some significant changes.

Multi-Language

The first major new feature is multi-language support. The site is now available in English, French, and Spanish. The entire site has been translated using ChatGPT. The base language is English, and the quality of the translation varies but is generally correct, as judged from my review.

language selector

I developed the multi-language feature to default to the browser’s language. If the browser is set to Spanish, the user will automatically be directed to the Spanish version of the site. By default, the language will be English.

It is still possible to manually change the language using the language switch located at the top right of the menu. Currently, a language change always redirects to the homepage.

Country-Specific Editorial

The second major novelty is a new editorial section by country, in which it is possible to see tourist information related to a country, but especially the list of airlines from that country.

The immediate goal of these pages is to generate SEO content to drive traffic. These pages will later be enriched with travel and tourism advice.

I also plan to add a ranking of airlines based on their travel policies.

Example: The best airlines in the US.

Complete color rework

I have also (finally!) reworked the entire color scheme of the website, based on a blue gradient.

In total, there are now 7 colors used on the site: shades of blue, gray, and white.

The idea is to improve the overall understanding of the site and make it more homogeneous.

Not being a UI pro, I simply based this on my limited knowledge and a quick benchmark of trends to achieve this result (which is probably improvable). Example: Cabin-bag compliance check.

Rework of Airline Pages and Search Results for Compatible Airlines

The first versions were really minimalist in terms of UI. They had the advantage of offering a relatively synthetic global view, but they were stifling.

I spent some time reworking the display thumbnails for the airlines to make them lighter, more readable, and more digestible. Example: Cabin baggage dimensions for Air France.

I remind you that if you wish to closely follow the development of BagFinder, I invite you to join the backstages, it’s free and I share quality content there. For example, I shared the UI benchmark conducted in recent weeks. If you are interested, go ahead and sign up.
